For what we paid, this was definitely the worst place I've stayed in Georgia. The photos were totally misleading. There were ants in the room, no cool box even though one was listed, and the toilet was broken when we arrived. The door only closes with a key. There’s a couch you're supposedly able to sleep on, but you can feel the metal when you lie down. A terrible stay.

The people here have huge hearts, and the homemade food is delicious. Add in the fresh air, lovely views, and fruit trees, and it’s a place you’ll remember and want to return to.

Marina and Mamuka’s guesthouse was a lovely find for me and my daughter. We spent a week there at the end of August, on our first trip to Georgia, and chose it ourselves online without friends’ advice. The garden around the house is spacious and full of beautiful trees. Several mandarin trees grow right up through the terrace floor, and we could pick grapes straight from a bush. Our ground-floor room opened onto the terrace, where we had tea in the evenings. It looked out to the sea, and even the fresh air smelled of it. In the morning, the host laid out breakfast on the upper balcony. She made tasty khachapuri, pancakes, pies, fruit salads, and lovely whole-bean coffee. We swam every day. One route to the beach was a pretty 25-30 minute walk to its left side; driving took about 10 minutes and brought us to the right side beside the botanical garden. There are two good cafes on the beach. I especially liked “Bungalow” for its Georgian folk food and music. “Forelnaya,” about ten minutes from the house, seemed to be the cheapest nearby, and was quite decent. We went to Batumi twice, about a 30-minute drive to the centre, or you can take the bus that comes every half hour. We picked the house partly for its relative closeness to one of the cleanest beaches, “Golden Cape,” and the wonderful botanical garden for walks. We wanted a small guesthouse rather than a tall hotel, and this suited us well. I’d recommend it to anyone after quiet and privacy. You might find lodging closer to the sea, but the nearby road is noisy and the houses there are close together.

A quiet, comfortable hotel for a fair price. The beds are clean and comfy, the bathroom and room size are decent, and breakfast is good. The staff are friendly too.
