Dato - House

A superb host and a really economical stay. Definitely 5 stars!

You can have breakfast on a private veranda with lovely views of the sea and central Batumi, and the beach is right across from the guesthouse. The house even has Wi-Fi on the beach. The owner is warm and welcoming, and the price is reasonable. Dato House sits between the city center and the train station, with good connections into town; a fish market and small supermarket are nearby too. It has a pleasant, family-friendly feel, and the sea air is refreshing. For swimming, though, I’d walk or drive to the beach near the Golden Fish behind the train station, or to the nearby beach by the Alphabet Tower. I highly recommend it!

The sea is just across the road, and the city is very close too. There’s a bus stop and plenty of minibuses opposite the house. Before I arrived from Russia, I was in touch with Dato and went over the details of my stay. My flight from Moscow was delayed, so I got in three hours late, around 1:00 AM. Dato arranged a taxi for a very low price, about three times less than the airport taxis, then treated me to Georgian wines and chacha. His wife, Svetlana, and mother-in-law, Maria, were sociable and easy to approach, always willing to help or give advice. I liked everything and honestly don’t understand the complaints in the earlier negative reviews.

The sea is close, and you can’t hear the cars. There are rules, which is good 🙂🖐 The kitchen is downstairs on the first floor; upstairs on the second, there are lovely tables overlooking the sea and the lights of central Batumi. Prices change depending on the comfort and location. There’s a good supply of fridges, dishes, and everything you need to cook for yourself 🙂😊 The only thing I missed was mosquito screens on the windows.
