Merabi and Neli Guest House

We couldn't get much of a conversation going with Mamuka, since we had different interests. He also won't tell you that Makhinjauri is dirty and dusty, with lots of sewage in the sea, though he'll tell you how bad Kvariati is. We found the WiFi poor, and the advertised airport transfer didn't work. We booked Merabi Guest House through Booking.com, but the photos there didn't match what we got. We were put in another building. The Booking.com photo shows the facade at ul. Kontselidze 54. Other reviews talked up Mamuka as a great conversationalist and praised his wife's morning khachapuri. We asked her to make khachapuri twice, but she couldn't manage it. Breakfast from Mamuka was minimal, with only boiled eggs. Even for lavash with tea, he sent our son to the shop, then sold us the lavash our son had bought for breakfast. ))) For shashlik, he said we had to buy meat and wine in Batumi because there was none. There are plenty of places for shashlik in Batumi, and plenty of wine!! ))) On our second day, Mamuka told us over breakfast that he'd canceled our reservation, and wrote to Booking.com that the tourists hadn't arrived. )) I found the owner focused on making quick money and not looking after his clients. He rents the apartment using photos of the neighboring house. The only things you can talk about with him are money, women, and clothes. He'd hang himself for 2 lari, waiting for you to find it in his wallet. We didn't find any hospitality there. I wouldn't recommend staying here.
