Next Official Apartment Hotel

The rooms were fine, but the staff and management should probably look for a different line of work. This was the worst hotel experience I had in Georgia. We had no hot water or heating, and the employees were no help. Twice they promised a technician would come the next day, and twice nothing happened. The windows let in a draft, so the room was freezing. After our first cold night, I was told the problem would be fixed tomorrow. It wasn’t. I asked for a blanket or anything to keep warm, but staff said the hotel had no extra covers or blankets. We had to sleep under one thin sheet. At checkout, they demanded double the amount for our stay. Maybe cold water and no heating were premium services. Luckily, we had used booking com, and after a long discussion we managed to avoid getting scammed.

For the price and location, this was pretty OK. Check-in and checkout were quick, the bed was comfortable, and the apartment was fairly quiet despite being in a condominium above a busy street. The AC worked great. It’s not too far from the boulevard, shops, and a few good restaurants, though Batumi doesn’t seem to have many of those. There’s no dedicated parking. The toilet and sink were a little loose when we arrived, and we had to fix them ourselves. The view was pretty good, but one of the two balcony chairs was already broken. The kitchen cupboard doors were wonky, and somehow there wasn’t even a bottle opener in a Georgian apartment.

The price and location were pretty good. We were there in November, though, and it was a little cold. The water and heaters were warm on the first night, but not for the next two. We had just one blanket for five people. When we asked reception for help, there was a language barrier and they said, “no more blankets.” We had to fix the water ourselves.

On 28.12 the power went out at 2am and didn’t come back until 11am, a full nine hours. Food went bad, and we threw almost everything from the fridge away. No compensation or anything, you’re on your own. I called reception three times, and they said it was the electric company and they couldn’t do anything. On 29.12 it happened again, from 3am for eight hours. Then on 30.12, at 11pm, it was time to go to sleep and there was no electricity again. I guess New Year’s Eve will be fun without ⚡️
