Wyndham Batumi

Georgi at reception greeted us when we arrived and upgraded our room, which was a lovely surprise. The hotel is centrally placed, close to everything, and has a nice casino. The spa is excellent, with massages, saunas, a hammam, and a jacuzzi. Breakfast was more than enough, and room service was quick and very helpful. I’d highly recommend it.

The location made it easy to get around the city, and we’d gladly come back. Breakfast had a wide, fresh selection, with the dining room staff quickly replenishing anything that ran low. Our room was large, clean, and reasonable, with two showers. The air conditioning didn’t work during winter, but room service was prompt, and we got two complimentary bottles of mineral water every day. Check-in was quick and the reception staff were courteous. Rooms were available from 2 p.m. There’s a casino next to the hotel and inside it, plus a 15th-floor restaurant with fair prices, similar to nearby places. We stayed for a week and recommend it.

Parking may be tricky. The basement has limited spaces, and public parking tends to be full in both Batumi and Tbilisi. We had a good two-night stay, though. Right at Europe Square, it’s surrounded by lovely areas with shops, cafes, parks, and more. The room was big and comfortable for the price, and breakfast had a great selection and good quality.

The location is the only real advantage. It’s central and connected to the main places in Batumi, but otherwise the hotel is below average, with nothing fancy about it. The reception staff were rude and seemed untrained for the industry, and the casino staff were even ruder. Our air conditioning failed for two nights straight. We reported it repeatedly, but no one checked the thermostat. Instead, they opened the windows, which made it worse.
