My one-night apartment reservation had been confirmed, but when I arrived on the booked day, nobody answered my message or came to meet me. I waited 20 minutes and then called the host. A woman picked up and said she wouldn’t let me in because I’d booked for just one night, adding that she didn’t care about Booking.com’s rules. After I left, she messaged to say she had previously requested a cancellation and that I had to approve it. I didn’t, of course. I hadn’t seen any cancellation email, and the host had never told me she wanted to cancel the booking. Since I never confirmed it, the reservation still showed as active in the app. Avoid this apartment if you don’t want to end up without a place to stay in a foreign country.
