Hotel Lazi

Nice place!

My wife and I were checked in right away, but the room was tiny and had almost nowhere to put anything. There was one small wardrobe, no place for clothes or suitcases, and the bathroom lacked towel hooks, a shower shelf, and a vanity by the sink. There was no mirror vanity, kettle, or trash can either. The internet was good and the air conditioning worked, but the power went out for a couple of hours on several occasions. The fridge had no freezer, even a small one, and you could hear everything from the hallway because the soundproofing was so poor. Once, the owner's husband was banging away with his tools at 1 a.m. When we mentioned it, he reacted aggressively and said it was too hot to work during the day. We didn’t go hungry, but the food was badly prepared and the choices were very limited, worse than even transit hotel buffets and hard to compare with Egypt. Cottage cheese pancakes left over from the previous day, or possibly earlier, were fried again and served; they were hard as a hammer. The only fresh vegetables were poor-quality tomatoes and cucumbers, the fruit was just watermelon and dates, and the only baked goods were biscuits that tasted of soda. We tried them at the start and halfway through the trip, and they hadn’t changed. We ate at nearby restaurants every other time. The dining room has air conditioning, but it needs repairs and they refuse to turn it on. Scrambled eggs were always cold and overcooked, and spicy dishes came out often. We tried the khinkali for dinner a few times, but they were like ordinary dumplings, torn and without juice, just dough and meat. There was no black bread, and they used cheap spread instead of butter. Cleaning was done well for $1. We wouldn’t choose this hotel again.

The service was okay and guests are treated respectfully, but the kitchen was a letdown. It looks like a Soviet-era cafeteria, and the food isn’t very tasty or varied. There are lots of eateries nearby. The rooms are clean at first, but later you have to chase the cleaner to get towels changed or anything cleaned. Windows and balconies face the main street, so there’s pollution and terrible noise. It was impossible to sleep.

Disgusting treatment of guests! We booked a room at Lazi Hotel again on May 31, 2022, for September 5-12. The booking site confirmed it, and the owners confirmed it themselves too. On September 3, two days before check-in, we messaged them to make sure everything was set, and they said yes. Then at 11 p.m. local time on September 4, the night before we were due to arrive, the hotel called to say all the rooms had been taken by visitors from Armenia for later booking at twice the original price. If that’s what they call good service and caring for guests, they have no conscience. Disgusting hotel, disgusting attitude, disgusting situation!!
