Art Hole

Thanks to the owner for letting me check in early, you saved me from the downpour ♥️. The room had the basics and a little more. The cigarette smell was really off-putting, and there was no soundproofing. I could hear the Rilses outside the door all day, talking about something in a rude tone.

The hotel was hard to find: there was no sign, and Booking.com showed the wrong address. The owner and staff weren't there and only came when called, while the door was secured with an electronic lock. We had a Booking.com price of 43 GEL for a simple double room with one bed, including my personal discount. We didn't book there because many owners ask guests to show up and pay cash instead, saying Booking.com charges them 10% per reservation and they would rather pass that saving along at check-in. This owner didn't offer a discount, though. He looked at my Booking.com price and said the room cost 50 GEL and he wouldn't take less. It's a small thing, but unpleasant. I offered to book it right there and pay the listed amount, but he flatly refused. The room wasn't prepared properly. There were only large bath towels, no face towels, apparently one towel was meant for both face and butt. The only toiletries were two bars of soap, with no shampoo, body wash, toothbrushes, or toothpaste. There's no soundproofing at all, so you can hear neighbors and street noise while sitting on the toilet. They advertised private parking, but the owner told us to park on the road wherever we could find a spot, and there isn't even a shoulder. There are practically no cafes, shops, or entertainment within walking distance, and especially nowhere to sightsee. The city center is about a half-hour walk away.

We'd first booked a three-bed room, then cancelled. After that, the manager called to ask if we'd like to stay the following night, and we agreed. We arrived late, hungry, and in a hurry to get to a restaurant, so when the manager put us in an apartment with a courtyard entrance, we took the key and left. The bed had a mattress that seemed to be from the 19th century, with bars digging into our bodies. The sofa was uncomfortable too and had burns in places. The toilet and shower were combined, and the trash can was dirty. At least the heating was okay. The apartment's front door has glass in the middle, so people outside can see what's happening in the room. The manager charged us 8 lari more than the price on Booking.com. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone. In January, you can get a more decent apartment for 60 lari.

The price was very fair for the conditions, especially for just one night. The bed springs did press into us a little, so it wasn't completely comfortable, but that was our only issue.
