Friendly Guest House

The view was beautiful, but the city center was a bit of a walk. Inside, it felt like someone’s home that had been left uncleaned. The bathroom was dirty, breakfast looked cheap and inedible, and there was no coffee in the room or TV. Dogs from a neighbor barked all night. There was no ventilation apart from the AC blowing straight at the bed.

We left a couple of hours after checking in. Fleas were jumping around and landing on us, and a white sock test on the carpets turned up many more. We showed her photos and explained what was happening, but she denied it and said they were only ants. We’d been looking forward to the cozy place and the breakfast, which had looked very yummy, but left to stay elsewhere. We found lots of fleas in the long hallway carpet. I’d avoid it until the infestation is taken seriously.

Fleas were all over us, dozens of them. We killed some and showed the owner, but she insisted they were ants. I’ve dealt with ants all my life and fleas once before, and there’s a big difference. Ants don’t bounce around or bleed red when you kill them. The place looked really nice, which makes it sad, but fleas can get badly out of hand if they aren’t taken seriously. Try the white sock test in the hallway and your room. Hope they deal with it properly.

The beds were comfortable, and there was a small balcony area as well as a patio. Tea and coffee were available, and the shared bathrooms had hot water and were never occupied when I needed them. Parking was outside and close to the guesthouse, and the owner was flexible about breakfast time. No complaints at all.
