Paying only in cash was another thing to keep in mind, and the location was excellent for the price. Still, my night in the double room left me exhausted. The fan barely helped with the heat, so I hardly slept, and the room's window looked onto the foyer where people walking past could see in. Getting to the nearby bathroom felt awkward too; it was more like a laundry room and clearly didn't seem set up with guests in mind. I felt unwelcome, almost as if I wasn't a paying customer, and the neighbor lady was pretty grumpy. Sneaking out to use the bathroom was uncomfortable. The family room with a balcony might be nicer.

The family made us feel welcome, even with the language barrier, and that really made the stay. Guest House Eli sits right by Kutaisi Opera House, above a coffee and ice cream shop, and the central bus station is less than three minutes away. It's a great, very central homestay option close to everything, and we'd highly recommend it.
