A quiet little homestay in Kutaisi. The room was clean, though there was no AC, just a table fan, and the bathroom is shared.

We did get a kind response when we asked the hostess to make khinkali, and I really appreciated that. There’s also a little dog in the yard that barks and darts around your feet, so it’s better not to touch it. The basics were pretty limited: no dishes or kitchen, no soap, and only small towels. There’s no kettle either, even though one appears in the photo, so making tea or coffee between resting and going out wasn’t an option. The cafe is far away. The room had a very wobbly bed. Every turn made it creak, and getting any privacy felt like a bit of a challenge. Be ready for a toilet that’s often occupied, a shower, and a bed in the room. It didn’t feel like the hostels I’ve seen in European cities. I’ve stayed in places with no hot water and weak heating, but this was still very bare bones.
