King David Hotel

We had a family room with a balcony and a lake view, which was the best part. There's a washing machine, and the location is great, right in the city center with everything nearby, including a supermarket. Breakfast was delicious. The downside was the very old furniture and a carpet covered in spots.

We had a pleasant stay, thanks in part to the supportive staff, who gave us an extra bed at no extra cost. The hotel is right in the heart of the city, though the building is quite old and the furniture in the rooms is old too. The staircase is a little unusual, so luggage may need to be carried for part of the way. Pork is served at breakfast, something to keep in mind, though that's common in many hotels.

The location in Kutaisi, the view, and the friendly, quick service were the best parts for us. We liked having room service, and the wait staff and cleaning ladies were kind. The bathroom door lets its light shine through at night, which I liked. The room stayed warm even with the heater off, and the bathroom floor wasn't cold under bare feet. They moved us to a larger room to make up for a leaking bidet, but it still leaked, just less than before. The bathrooms also had a sewage smell that wouldn't go away with cleaning, so air fresheners were left there. The rooms have wall-to-wall carpet that seems to need deep cleaning. The split AC can cool or heat, but makes loud, strange noises when turned on, enough to wake you if it runs overnight. We had issues with the taxi driver trying to overcharge us, and the staff helped talk it through calmly. This hotel may once have been one of Kutaisi's prestigious places, but in 2023 it badly needed renovation, and there may be better rooms nearby. I wouldn't recommend it, despite the good location, staff service, and view.

Nice place and friendly staff, but we waited 1.5 hours after ordering kinkhali before they told us the kitchen couldn't make it. They should've said so at the start.
