Lakhiri is peaceful, with a lovely view over the valley. Unlike the villages in the valley that are more developed for tourism, it’s mostly proper farmhouses here, and the food is all produced in the village. The food and place to rest were good. A friendly family runs it, and they have an adorable puppy. It’s a beautiful village that feels off the beaten path.

The family was so kind, picked me up from my Guesthouse in Mestia, and even offered me delicious food. I’d really recommend the experience. I’d contacted them via WhatsApp, and they were able to arrange a mountain horse riding tour with a guide very spontaneously. It was a great day, and Bojan was a super calm, friendly horse. I really enjoyed the ride.

We only stopped briefly on the first day of our Mestia Ushguli trek, but had a nice chat with the owner. They taught us some useful phrases in the Svan language, and we had delicious homemade peach juice from the fridge. The accommodation looked nice, and the setting is pretty spectacular. I’d love to come back and stay sometime. Iva sokhari!

A lovely stop to unwind halfway through a trek. This little cafe looks out over the valley, and we enjoyed the homemade juice and honey cake.
