Eka&Nino GuestHouse

I stayed in a spacious four-bed room for a good price, right in the heart of Mestia. The facilities were clean and worked fine. The owner lives downstairs, speaks a little English, and did a load of laundry for free. Really good guesthouse, can’t recommend it enough. The entrance is down an alley, with a sign on the door.

We ended up leaving Mestia very disappointed after losing two hours to this. First we waited an hour for check-in details, then a woman arrived, said the guesthouse was being renovated, and sent us to a different hotel for the same price. At the other hotel, the receptionist wanted us to cancel our reservation and pay her directly. We pointed out that canceling would mean a 100% fee, but she still told us to do it. Once we canceled, the money had already been taken from our account, and she still asked us to pay again. Even a call from the Eka&Nino Guesthouse didn’t sort anything out. In the end, staying there meant paying twice.

We had a relaxed, simple stay that suited what we needed, and the hosts let us do laundry at no extra charge. There’s a nice balcony to sit on. The walls were very thin, though, so we could hear other guests late at night. I’d stay again.

The bedding didn’t feel right to me: the duvet and pillow covers and the blanket all seemed damp and really old. My door had a gap and wouldn’t shut properly, and the walls were super thin. Both bathrooms, one upstairs and one downstairs, were small and not very clean. Maybe guesthouse-style stays just aren’t for me, but I didn’t enjoy my time here at all.
