River Front Mtskheta

The pool and location were great, and the room itself was nice, though there was a lot of mold in the bathroom. The cleaning lady rushed to get it ready when we arrived early, which we appreciated. We’d tried to let the hotel know we were coming early, but got no answer. The manager, maybe, was by the pool with friends when we arrived. This was the most expensive hotel we stayed at in Georgia, yet the service was by far the worst. Our booking included breakfast, but when we went to the restaurant at 8:30 AM, nobody was there. We had perhaps five minutes of contact with the manager, who didn’t explain the parking situation. At 9 AM, when we tried to check out, there was no one around except a stray dog at reception. The doors had been left open all night. The phone number at reception didn’t work for us, and no one replied on WhatsApp. When we decided to leave and left the keys in the door, we found ourselves stuck inside Mtskheta’s gated area, with no staff there to let us out. We waited until a neighbor was leaving, and he let us through. We wouldn’t recommend staying here, especially at 85 euros for one night.

Breakfast was tasty, though it took over 20 minutes to arrive. The hotel is in central Mtskheta near the riverside, and there’s parking in front behind a barrier. You have to call the hotel to have it opened. The rooms look fine but need some renovation. There was no soap. The sheets and towels smelled strongly of chlorine, and the pillows felt like balloons and weren’t comfortable to sleep on. The service was confusing. Before check-in, staff suggested using a toilet in a room that hadn’t been cleaned after other guests, even though there were other shared toilets in the hotel. If you want a quiet, restful stay, the staff won’t help: they played loud music after the permitted hours and didn’t step in when other guests partied until 4 AM and kept people awake. Because of the poor service, I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

The price is high, but the quality is low, so be careful. I definitely wouldn’t recommend this place. The pool and lounge chairs were dirty and full of insects, which was really disappointing. Hygiene was bad inside too. There were cobwebs all around the bathroom ceiling, lots of mosquitoes, and a horrible smell. I guess the doors hadn’t been opened for a while. The welcome wasn’t great either. They knew four of us were coming, but hadn’t prepared properly even though we were the only guests. We asked for warm blankets and got something like thin mattresses instead, not blankets at all.

I found a restaurant with great food and wine. The historical parts I saw also really brought me into that atmosphere.
