We had a terrace off our room and even made the first snowman. There’s also a kids’ lounge around the corner from the shared lounge, with activities and cradles for naps. The rooms are cozy, and many look out at the mountains. With a sauna, shared lounge, and restaurant, Porta Caucasia hotel makes a handy base for exploring Kazbegi. The staff were warm and welcoming, and the location among snow-covered frozen mountains was breathtaking, like a winter wonderland. The food was a treat. I tried the grilled pork and pasta, both of which I recommend. Georgian favorites like Khinkali and Khachapuri were getting great reviews too. And don’t miss the winery if you want to buy from their huge selection at very affordable prices. Porta Caucasia hotel in Kazbegi, Georgia, made for a unique, memorable stay. I highly recommend it.

It’s centrally located in the village, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. From the hotel, it’s about a 1 hour hike to the Church.

The rooms were filthy and never cleaned. We had to keep asking for basics like towels or shampoo, and staff either ignored us or made us ask repeatedly. They were shockingly rude and unprofessional throughout. There was no air conditioning, just one small fan for our whole stay. There were no curtains on the windows, and when we asked about them, staff rudely said we’d have to pay extra to book a room with curtains. Completely unacceptable service, and no respect for guests. A disgrace.

We had lunch here and really enjoyed it. The food was amazing and the portions were generous. Their fried pork with potatoes was one of the best dishes I had on the whole trip. The waiter was super friendly and gave us lots of good beer suggestions. I’d definitely recommend this restaurant.

The location is the only good thing about this place. The staff aren’t very helpful, and the services don’t deliver. Even the basics aren’t handled. Hotels are meant to provide service, and this one fails at that. Not a good choice.
