Hotel Khokhobi Old Tbilisi

The buffet breakfast had a good variety and lovely food, and the location by the baths is close to lots of sights. The rooms are clean and well equipped with what you'd expect in a hotel, including modern European bathrooms. It's a lovely place, and definitely a hotel rather than a guesthouse if that's what you're after. There are hardly any stairs to get there; other reviewers are being dramatic or lazy.

The shower never got hot, and the heater didn't warm the room enough, so we were cold and uncomfortable. We skipped breakfast because the options were very limited and the food looked old and unappetizing. Cleanliness was also seriously disappointing. There was feces under the toilet seat and brown droplets on the bathroom door when we arrived. When we requested cleaning on the second day, neither the toilet nor the sink had been cleaned. The bed was barely made, and it seemed housekeeping had only changed the towels instead of properly cleaning the room. This hotel fell short on basic comfort and cleanliness. I'd strongly recommend finding somewhere else.

The staff were super kind, and we had a lot of fun with our ski instructors. We stayed four days at this cozy lodge on the lower slopes, with cable car access to the top and ski gear rental and lessons available. Breakfast was included. There was also a spa, heated indoor and outdoor pools, dry and wet saunas, a kids' room, four-lane bowling, pool tables, a tennis court, and four-wheeler and snowmobile tours and rentals. The bar was open in the evenings. English isn't their second language, but we got by fine. Just be nice and patient.

The room took nearly a day to warm up after we arrived to a freezing space around New Year, even though we came back late from a tour and there had been time to start heating it. The hot water also seemed rationed, and our showers were cold. For the most expensive room of our trip, we expected a room or maybe even an apartment, but got a little loft cell instead. There was feces under the toilet seat, and it was still there after the next cleaning. Breakfast was another letdown. Georgia had surprised us with its hospitality and breakfasts elsewhere, including Tbilisi, but this one felt straight out of the communist era and reminded me of the Stalin museum. We'd had great stays at ambitious hotels around Georgia, so this was a big disappointment. Thanks, but no thanks, never again. I suggest looking at Puris Moedani Boutique Hotel or Qarvasla Hotels instead. They were more affordable too. The same advice goes to this hotel's management: stay there and learn how to run a hotel.
