The location is the one real plus: it's right in the center, with nearby landmarks easy to reach. We stayed for 5 nights, and I can't recommend the hotel. We had trouble getting inside even though the owner had sent confirmation, and he didn't understand English well. He'd also needed several reminders beforehand, so keep that in mind. The room smelled dusty the whole time, and opening the windows didn't make the air feel fresh. It needed a proper clean. The floor was uneven, the shower leaked all over, and our towels and bedding weren't changed for 4 days. We had to buy toilet paper, shower gel, and shampoo ourselves. The bed and pillows were so bad that we needed a massage every day.

Getting to the airport safely on our departure day was taken care of by Koba, such a gentleman. During the stay, when we couldn't arrange transport to Stepansminda ourselves, our hosts helped sort out a car. The lovely couple were welcoming throughout, and treated me and my partner to homemade wine and chacha. Their hotel is beautiful, rustic, comfortable, and feels very homely.

We booked through Booking, but our reservation was canceled without any explanation. No one answered our calls, WhatsApp messages, or messages in the Booking app. When we told him we were on our way, he read the message and still didn't respond. Someone standing outside the building told us the booking had been canceled. When I asked why, he said he didn't know and guessed it might be because we only wanted to stay one night. We love Georgian people, so this was unbelievable to us.

I booked through Ostrovok. A few hours before check-in, while I was already on the way, the hotel emailed me about a water supply problem: "Due to a water main failure in room 4, the water supply will be restored by 11:30 PM. We apologize." I didn't mind being without water, but they still refused to let me check in and wouldn't cancel my reservation.
