It's generally a decent place, more like a guest house than a hotel, tucked into the backyard of the owner's family home. Downtown is a 10-15 minute walk downhill. The rooms were okay, but the bathrooms weren't clean and smelled of sewage. Our towels stayed wet because there was nowhere to dry them, and they weren't replaced. The double bed on the first floor had a very soft, uncomfortable mattress, so I didn't get a good night's sleep. There were no outlets by the bed.

We'd planned to find somewhere for one night on a lovely trip to Kakheti, but choosing Guglux hotel turned out to be one of the trip's best surprises. Mamuka, the hotel and winery owner, greeted us with a smile and gave us a wonderful memory of the region. The room was cozy, clean, warm, and freshly decorated. What really made the place special was its Georgian wine culture: Mamuka's hospitality and high quality wine made a strong impression on us. If you'd like to understand traditional Georgian winemaking, visit this lovely place and make sure you try the degustation.

I came with friends from the Netherlands and Belgium, and we had a great time. It was very quiet, extremely clean, and our privacy was respected. It felt like home. The homemade bio wine was a highlight, and the place is worth visiting.

The wine cellar itself is really beautiful and nice, and we tried two wines, one white and one red, plus some chacha. But there was nobody to explain how the wine was made or what characterized each one. We paid 10 Lari per person for the degustation, so more information would have been nice for the price.
