I can’t speak much about the guesthouse itself, but the little house in the backyard looked very sweet. What I loved was lunch in the yard under a grapevine that’s two hundred years old, and the host’s kindness. For a wine lover, the wines were the best I’ve tasted in the past year. They had a lovely bouquet, full body, and a balanced, amazing taste. The bottling materials were high quality and the labels were beautiful. I also tried some very interesting infused chacha. I’d highly recommend it to wine fans, whether amateur or professional.

This was the best wine tasting we did in Telavi. The wines are made on site and the selection worked really well together. We got clear explanations from very kind people, and the prices were fair. We had a great time, bought a couple of bottles, and are looking forward to opening them back home.

Believe me, I’m Georgian, and this is the best wine. I feel so lucky to have found wine with such a splendid taste and unbelievable bouquet in the Kakheti region. I could go on about it endlessly. You can try it at Sandro's family in Telavi, or in Tbilisi at Wine Galery or 8000 vintages.

I chose this for a one-night booking because of the ratings, then found out many people were reviewing the wine tasting rather than the rooms. The room was the worst I’ve had in all my travels, including in Georgia. It was small and stuffy, with two beds like something from barracks. It was very hot, and the open windows had no screens, so in the two hours I was there mosquitoes ate me alive. I couldn’t imagine staying another ten minutes, let alone overnight. I explained the problem to the proprietor, who still charged me a cancellation fee. Honestly, I was glad to pay that ransom just to leave. I booked a nice hotel across from the fortress for only a little more. Telavi is a lovely town, and there are much better places to stay, including ones without bugs.
