We spent five days at Tirebi Farmhouse with our two young children, and all of us had a great time. The kids loved being able to roam safely on the hills around the farm, help with the cattle and play with the puppies. We also enjoyed getting a glimpse of farm life. Set in a beautiful landscape, the farmhouse is a lovely starting point for hikes and a way to experience the local atmosphere. The hosts were very welcoming and did everything they could to accommodate our wishes. The food was tasty and healthy, and the rooms, though simple, were clean and had all the basic amenities.

There’s a real farm feel at this cozy guest house in a picturesque spot. The house is heated with wood, and the shared room is very warm, while the guest rooms can be cool. You can ask for an electric heater. The owners are friendly and sociable, and told us about local sights. They also offer horseback riding tours and cooking masterclasses. We ordered dinner, which was delicious and varied. Sergo, the owner, treated us to wine he made himself.

We came in December, with snow on the ground and cold weather, but still enjoyed long walks to Tmogvi castle with the two farm dogs alongside us. The hosts kindly picked us up in Tmogvi, since the property and farm are quite remote. Marina made wonderful home-cooked meals. It’s a magical place, though be ready to slow down in winter. Madloba to the family for a truly special two-night stay!

The farmhouse sits in one of the most beautiful parts of Georgia I’ve seen. You can get there along a 2 km road where you definitely need a 4x4, or take a short walk over a small bridge. From the property there’s a great hike toward the Vardzia caves. Just know before booking that the accommodation is really basic. It’s not bad, but good to be aware of.

A wonderfully quiet spot across the river from the village, with a very kind family running it. The national food was delicious. There’s magnificent trekking to the ruins, over the hills alongside the river and all the way to Vardzia.
