JORJ'INN

Sasashi is peaceful but there's plenty to do, from swimming or hanging out by the river to hiking in the mountains and wandering around the village. It's about a 1h15 min drive to Ushguli if you'd like to explore there too. Jorj’Inn is a cozy, renovated traditional Svanetian house, and it made me feel at home as soon as I arrived. The rooms are clean, the beds are extremely comfortable, and the mountain views when you wake up are almost hard to believe. I wished I'd stayed longer. A great choice if you want to experience Svaneti in a relaxed, non-touristy way.

We spent three memorable nights here as a family, and the hospitality made us feel at home right away. The food was another highlight. Try the freshly made Sulguni in the morning, still warm from the pot. Walking around the village was special too, especially meeting Makvala Deida (Deida means “aunt” in Georgian), an inspiring 81-year-old who still manages her household and farm on her own. The guesthouse itself is a beautifully renovated traditional Svanetian family home, blending authentic old character with modern comfort. The beds are very comfortable, and the bathrooms are modern, spotless, and have hot water. The dining hall is striking, with huge ceiling beams cut from very tall trees. Outside, there's a peaceful yard and a stunning large dining table made from local stone. Nature all around is breathtaking. From Jorj Inn, you can hike above the treeline into the alpine zone, with wide views of Shkhara, Ushba, Tetnuldi, and other Caucasus peaks. The nearby river is good for a refreshing swim or a walk along its magical bed, which feels like a scene from Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones. Even a short walk in the forest brings you to mossy ground and fresh mountain air. The area feels like a living museum of giant rocks, ancient trees, and untouched landscapes. It seems like a wonderful base for summer hikes, colorful autumn forests, or winter ski touring. With its comfort, design, modern amenities, food, welcome, nature, and cultural character, I give Jorj Inn my highest recommendation.

The hosts are so sweet, and there are endless trails and lovely villages to explore. A clear river nearby is perfect for a swim, and the mountain scenery all around is gorgeous. This guesthouse is such a unique, cozy place. Definitely recommend if you're after nature and charm together.

We felt welcomed like family at JorJ’Inn, and spent time sharing stories as friends. The dinner and breakfast were fresh and full of flavor, with most ingredients produced locally. We left happy and very full. Thanks again to Gio, Jorge and the rest of the family.
