A007 Embassy Gardens Studio Apartm

We were two adults visiting Accra and chose a two bedroom apartment in the Cantonments area at Embassy Gardens. Before arriving, contact was good and the staff seemed polite and helpful. I’d told them we’d arrive just after 10 PM, and they confirmed that was fine. We checked in normally and paid the full $2,100 by card for our stay from May 5th to May 19th. Still, Booking.com continued to show that we hadn’t checked in. The apartment seemed nice at first, and the staff were polite. Then I accidentally broke an ordinary, inexpensive drinking glass. I told the cleaner because there was no safe way to pick up the pieces, just a broom. Almost as soon as the cleaner left, a manager messaged me on WhatsApp to say he’d heard about the glass, then called and urgently demanded $30 for it. I said a regular glass wasn’t worth that much. He said I could instead find an identical one within 24 hours, which felt unrealistic for a foreign visitor who didn’t know where to buy one in Accra. I’d already paid $2,100 for about two weeks, so being pressured to pay urgently over a minor accident felt intimidating and undignified. There was no clear information about what guests could be charged for. After that, I felt uneasy for the rest of the stay and worried they might add more unreasonable charges or make false accusations. I’ll attach a photo so people can see how inexpensive the glass looks. I don’t feel I can fully trust the management now. I also kept asking them to correct the Booking.com status showing that we never checked in, because I wasn’t confident things were being handled honestly or professionally. The Embassy Garden’s hotel apartment I’m staying in still appears as if I haven’t checked in, and Booking.com shows the consequences of that. The staff seemed almost annoyed when I raised it. Cleaning was superficial and questionable too. The cleaning cloths looked unhygienic and left dirt marks on the toilet seat. The mop was squeezed out by hand, which didn’t feel sanitary. Garbage was often left behind, or no fresh bag was provided after cleaning.

The walk was a little far, and I got lost a few times during my first two days, though that says more about my sense of direction than anything else. I felt safe, liked the cafe, gym, and pool, and thought it was good value. The place is close to central Accra. I also appreciated the airport pickup, the welcoming staff, and the clean room.

The hosts were responsive and helpful, especially when they provided the documents we needed for our visas. Check in was secure and smooth, and the place was easy to find. The apartment was very clean, and the cleaners kept it fresh. The property has well maintained amenities indoors and out, with clean shared areas, pools, cafe spots, and seating where you can relax or work during the day. The location was one of the best parts, in a nice area that was easy to get around and felt safe the whole time.

It’s a nice property, but bring your own towels if you want to use the pool. They’re strict about coming in at check in and check out to count kitchen items. Also, if you’re given both room keys, they apparently can’t get in to clean, and it’s a hassle to get added to the cleaning schedule afterward.
