Afia African Village

I came back today after years away and had lunch, which brought back good memories. The menu's pretty limited now, since there aren't many customers, but the staff are nice. It's sad to see the place has lost its former shine and so much of its clientele. Still, it's a nice spot to pause, have a drink, and eat palava sauce in the big open restaurant while the ocean waves are in the background.

There's a lot of potential here, and the location is great, but the facility is being allowed to run down. It needs capital and fresh ideas to bring people in. Someone should work with management on a proposal to revamp it and bring it back to its former glory. Investors, please come to its aid.

The sunrise view is lovely, and with some renovation and paint this old building could become a great getaway close to the city centre. It's right on the beach beside the birth and deaths registry, with lots of shade from the trees inside the property. If you're after a budget beachside stay, this might suit you, though comfort will depend on what you expect and may be compromised. Take it as a bit of an adventure and have a look.

The people working here are extremely nice, the beds are good, and the rooms are OK. Food is excellent, security is OK, and the souvenir shop has very good prices. It's about a 10' walk to the market. The hotel is by the sea, but the beach is filthy and not suitable for swimming. There isn't a pool.
