The place is fenced, has two restaurants and a pool, and sits by the sea about 15 minutes from the airport. It worked well for a couple of nights, and also seemed suited to a week of relaxing by the water. I was upgraded to the presidential suite, a large, airy room with comfortable sofas and a small kitchenette of my own, including a refrigerator. The bed was surprisingly comfortable. Both restaurants served good food, though nothing that really overwhelms you. Breakfast was quite okay, with hot and cold options. The room was clean, and the cleaning staff were nice. My ratings: beds, 7, where 0 means sinking through, 5 average, and 10 lying on top of the mattress. Value for money, 7, where 0 means throwing money down the drain, 5 breaking even, and 10 the highest profit.
The direct beach access is the best part. With the palms swaying along the shore, it really does feel like paradise. La Palm Royal Beach Hotel has a huge pool area that works well for families or a solo day lounging, and the architecture has a great royal Ghanaian feel. The staff are friendly, and the breakfast spread doesn’t disappoint.
The rooms are good, though they could use a little updating, and it’s a great place in general. The staff were the problem for me. One person gave me wrong directions, then I asked four different staff members for water and was ignored each time. I only got help after the high profile guest I was with personally went and asked for it. That really marred my experience. I hope it’s better next time.
The scenery blends nicely with nature and gives the place a relaxing feel. It’s a beautiful tourist hotel, with great food, courteous staff, and excellent room service and housekeeping. I’d definitely love to visit again.
I visited back in 2016. It’s a very nice place, the service was really good, and their buffet was excellent.
