La Villa Aphro Ghana

For a relaxed beach hotel, this is a great choice. The owner and staff were friendly and accommodating, and the rates are much more affordable than other beach hotels in central Accra. We had a really nice stay.

The staff are lovely and helpful, and the rooms are beautiful and clean. The food is fresh and delicious, especially breakfast pastries, which are so good you'll want seconds. If you run into any problems, let the staff know. Customer service was great. It's a beautiful, peaceful hotel in Kokrobite, about an hour from Central Accra, with the beach accessible from the hotel. Every morning you can hear gentle waves and see the beach from your room. For a special stay, I highly recommend the “180 Degree Sea Front View” room: you can look out at the beach while taking a warm bath. It's ideal for couples or solo travellers. The room was unbearably hot, with no working fan or AC, and the window wouldn't open. The lights kept going out, and most menu items weren't available. Staff kept saying they'd come fix things, but never did. We couldn't take the heat and checked out that same night. Even though the room wasn't up to standard and the problem was their fault, they refused to refund us. We'd been nice and tipped the staff we met on arrival and at lunch, but they still didn't accommodate us. I wouldn't recommend it.

From check-in to leaving, I loved every minute. We were welcomed with drinks and warm towels, then found petals and candles in our room as a lovely anniversary surprise. They also set up an extra bed for my little girl. The room was very neat, and the view from the bed and bathroom, along with the sound of the waves, made it feel so peaceful. I'd recommend the upstairs room with the sea and pool view. It has a gorgeous bathtub facing the ocean and a sky roof shower. The pool and beachfront were very clean, and the staff were attentive and gave excellent service. The only downside was how long food took after ordering. It was good, though, and breakfast was especially lovely, with a variety of pastries and fruit. I'd definitely visit again.
