A complete disaster. The place was extremely messy, and the owners seemed to have little respect for us. In the middle of trying to explain things, they kept focusing on their phones instead of speaking to us properly. When we said we weren’t happy with the room, Manoli started shouting and swearing at us in both Greek and English. He was aggressive and kept yelling, so we had to call the police. The bathroom smelled bad, the towels weren’t clean, and the air conditioning apparently hadn’t been fixed properly, despite earlier reviews mentioning the same problem. Manoli was the most disrespectful person I’ve ever dealt with. Avoid this place. They’re not capable of running a business, and there are better hotels nearby. If zero stars were possible, that’s what I’d give.

We paid 300 dollars a night for a moldy bunker with no fresh towels, so the price was almost comical. Mold was growing throughout the room, apparently because it was damp and had no airflow. Don’t be fooled by the photos of bright white rooms and walls. The “maids” never cleaned our room. The only time they came in was to switch off the air conditioner while we were out. The room was below a small group of houses, down an alley, and didn’t feel like a hotel or an apartment. There was one window that wouldn’t open, and leaving the door screen open overnight felt unsafe because someone could easily get in. There was no air circulation or air filtration. One of our friends has asthma and struggled to breathe, and the rest of us found it difficult too. When we asked for another room, Manolis said he was fully booked and couldn’t help. He didn’t try to find us somewhere else or even apologize. I’ve never reviewed a hotel before, but I wouldn’t want anyone else to go through this. The washer was another mess. We were told we could use it, and staff even brought detergent when we asked. The next day, the machine was stuck shut. Manolis’s sister then said it was broken, even though they’d told us to use it and supplied the detergent. They did eventually get our clothes out by the end of the day. We were told Manolis would pick all five of us up from the port, but he arrived in a two-door car. He took our suitcases to the room and left us to find it ourselves, even though it was hard to locate without a sign or hotel name. No other local we asked had heard of “Alea Milos”. When we finally found the place, another couple’s bags and luggage, including passports and purses, were outside in the street so the room could be cleaned. The couple came back and found us in their room, their belongings outside, and their phones still charging inside. I’d never seen anything like it. When I called Manolis, he admitted they’d made a mistake and hung up while I was speaking. There was no reception desk, so having the only contact person end the call was distressing. The previous guests still had a key to the room, and if we hadn’t been there, our things could have been taken. When we later told them how uncomfortable we felt, Manolis’s sister said nothing had been taken from either group, including the items left in the street, so she didn’t understand the complaint. The island is beautiful, but this stay could ruin the experience. I wouldn’t stay here for free, let alone pay for it. Please don’t waste your money.

The room was lovely and clean, and the host was generous with his time and knowledge of the island. I’ll stay here again next time I’m in Milos. Thanks for a great visit!

A wonderful room and a lovely host. We couldn’t have asked for more, and we’ll come back next time we’re in Milos.

A relaxing spot up on the Adamas hill, with an owner who’s great fun to chat with.
