Play On The Sand

I really liked the hotel and its location. There’s a fantastic beach across the street, and you’re near both the port and the main city. Everything was clean, and we had all we needed, including towels, a kitchen, and clean sheets. The owner is a nice old man to chat with if you feel like it. You can listen to music and just feel at home.

Vasilis and Anthoula were so kind, and that made our stay in the apartment feel special. It was great value, and I can’t recommend it enough.

This was a basic apartment, with a building site next door and a derelict restaurant below. We heard construction noise on Saturday morning. The view from the window was entirely a building site, though there was a sea view from the balcony. The apartment was a reasonable size and in a good location, with good-quality towels. O Hamos, an amazing restaurant, is just a two-minute walk away, and the beach is right nearby. We booked a superior studio apartment through Expedia, and the pictures and description led us to expect a nice building with a garden and daily housekeeping. There was no garden for this studio, and I wouldn’t call the apartment superior. It had basic facilities. The curtains were stained and didn’t close properly, the sofa under its blanket was stained too, and a bedroom shelf was so loose it wasn’t safe to put anything on. The TV didn’t work, the shower pole was loose, and the flimsy work shelf looked like it could collapse under any weight. The Expedia and other website listings showed a building that may be part of Play on the Sand, but our apartment wasn’t in that building, which was misleading. Housekeeping happened only once during our four-night, five-day stay, despite being advertised daily. The management didn’t respond when I raised the issues, so I contacted Expedia. They said Play on the Sands would refund £50, which felt insulting given what we paid and how long we stayed. Expedia then agreed to another £30, for £80 total. We accepted it, but I still felt that was unacceptable. The management did message to remind us to leave by 11am and ask what time we’d be going. I didn’t reply.

There’s a lovely beach right in front of the house, and a famous place to eat is nearby. The rooms are basic but clean, though be ready for plenty of mosquitoes.
