Caramel, A Grecotel Resort to Live

This was our first time at Caramel, and our second stay at a Grecotel. Both experiences have been 5⭐️, so now we want to try even more Grecotel hotels. From the moment we arrived, everyone was friendly, helpful, and smiling. The waiters were lovely, and nothing was too much trouble. Alex, the hotel manager, made our whole family feel welcome and helped make the stay extra special and relaxing. Thanks as well to the reception team and cleaners, who were just as kind and made everything feel easy. We left happy and relaxed, already wanting to return. We’ve been to the Caramel four times, and each visit has exceeded what we expected. Breakfast and dinner have a great selection and quality, so this time we chose half-board and were glad we did. The staff are welcoming, attentive, and clearly committed to giving guests a good experience. It’s child-friendly too. You may hear a few little humans having fun, but it never felt noisy or annoying.

The room was crawling with ants, and the sewage smell was unbearable. We paid nearly $600 a night, and several other guests had the same problems. We were moved to a room that was worse. One night we woke up covered in ants, and another night the odor was so bad we slept outside. I uploaded a video of the ants and a photo of sewage trucks outside our window, but the smell didn’t improve. Guests who had stayed a month earlier reported the same problems, so this seems to be ongoing. We stayed in early September, and the hotel was filthy. Our booking partner asked to cancel, but Manager Maria refused. After promising to take care of us, the hotel comped a couple of drinks and rudely told us to deal with it. It was a terrible experience, and I strongly caution others against staying here. Edit: After I posted this, we received a credit of about $400 against the roughly $1700 we paid for three nights. The credit had been promised nearly two months earlier but was never issued. The Manager asked me to remove my review. I said I wouldn’t, because that would misrepresent our experience.

The only drawback for us was the beach. On some days the waves and rocky ground could make it hard for younger kids to swim. Everything else made for an unforgettable stay. The property is peaceful and lovely, with elegant decor, comfortable rooms, and a beach villa spacious enough for our whole family. The pool and beach are wonderful places to relax, and you can order from the pool or beach bar menu. Try the Bao, it was really good. Breakfast and dinner were perfect, with loads of tasty buffet options. Housekeeping also did a fantastic job. The hospitality and service are what made it so special. Special thanks to Alexandros for keeping me safe with my nut allergy 🙏🏼. It truly feels like 5-star service, and I couldn’t recommend it more. One of my best hotel stays, and I don’t say that lightly.
