We had a very good stay in the renovated part of Hotel Kathrin Beach. The location is excellent for the beach, just a few steps away, and the pool was clean. The hotel has its own convenience store too. Our room was clean and well maintained, the air conditioning worked perfectly, and there was a fridge. You can rent a safety deposit box at reception, where it’s kept securely, rather than in the room. Breakfast and dinner were generous and varied each day, with an early breakfast or lunch package available if you’re heading out early. A few things could be better: towels are changed only every three days, which felt too infrequent in hot weather when you may shower more than once daily. The pool tiles get very slippery when wet, so replacing them or adding a visible warning sign would help avoid accidents. The available iron was tiny and impractical; we assumed there’d be a proper one, didn’t bring ours, and had to buy one locally. I also think a small standard safe in every room wouldn’t cost much and would be appreciated for keeping belongings secure. All in all, very good value for money and an excellent location.

The beach is right there, and the pool is really nice. The food was amazing, with lots of variety and great taste, and the staff were incredibly nice. Despite what some other reviews said, there seemed to be almost more younger people than older ones. I can’t recommend this hotel enough.

The bar became part of our routine after the first night, especially for the cocktails. I had one of the best Mai Tais I can remember. That first evening, we enjoyed a lovely bottle of wine with dinner and took it out to the veranda, where the quiet view and sunset were unforgettable. My wife and I stayed at Kathrin Beach Hotel for a few days in May and really didn’t want to go home. Everyone was warm, polite, and genuinely keen to help. The buffet breakfast had lots of choice, dinner was high quality, and the snack bar’s fresh salads and tasty dishes made for an easy light lunch. Prices were fair throughout. We’d happily return.

It was calm, and the service was good. Dinner had a good range of dishes, while breakfast was just okay. The mini market prices were reasonable, and there are plenty of restaurants, rental places and shops nearby, plus a bus stop. A couple of things to know: drinks at dinner cost extra. The pool is fine, though not very large, so free sunbeds can be in short supply. Beach beds cost 7€/pair per day, which seemed fair.

We’ll definitely return. It’s a lovely spot to watch the sunset with a cocktail, and the bus into Rethymnon stops just around the corner. The hotel sits right on the beach and has a nice pool with sunbeds and parasols. You can also rent beds on the beach at a very reasonable price. It’s a family-run place, and the owners are lovely, always ready to help. There’s a bar serving drinks and lunch too. I’d thoroughly recommend it.
