Mary Hotel & Mary Royal Suites

The owner gave us a little bottle of olive oil from their own groves when we left, such a lovely parting touch. We also had daily room cleaning, a lovely Greek breakfast each morning, and plenty to do in the evenings, from the pool table and PS5 to watching games with a drink at the bar. There were live music or dance performances weekly, too. The staff managed to be both professional and warm, and their everyday smiles made us feel like part of the family. Everything was spotless, from the pools and lobby to the breakfast area and our room. Mary Hotel is about a 15-minute drive from Rethymno city center, with shops and restaurants close by. Sky Park, right next door, was our favorite. The atmosphere and buildings were lovely. Saying it felt like home wouldn’t quite cover it, it was even better. We really enjoyed our stay and can’t recommend it enough.

We turned up around 1 AM after our flight from Heraklion was delayed, and we couldn’t reach our accommodation on the west side of the island in time. Luckily, a staff member was still there and told us they had one bed free. The hotel has been renovated and looks beautiful, especially the entrance room. Breakfast was extremely tasty, with great coffee and orange juice, and there’s parking right in front. I’d happily recommend the place and will stay here on my next island visit. We really enjoyed our stay, and I’d recommend this hotel. It has two pools, one for children and one for adults, plus a lovely terrace restaurant. The breakfast was fresh and very nice, the staff were all friendly, and there were plenty of activities for children, including a pool, gym, and PlayStation. The hotel was very clean, and the sea was within walking distance. Our one issue was the restaurant next door, which is a separate property. Some rooms share a wall with it, and the noise from parties carried through until midnight. The hotel has double glazing and good sound insulation, but it was still loud enough to make sleeping difficult, especially after a day of relaxing and with children. The hotel kindly offered to change our room.

The beach is only a five-minute walk away, and restaurants and bars on the main road are about the same distance. Our room was modern and clean, and there are two small pools. The service was excellent, with some of the friendliest people we’ve met. They even gave us a goodbye note and olive oil, a really lovely gesture. One of the best places I’ve stayed, and I’d definitely come back. Thank you 💕
