We booked spa treatments and they were fantastic. Katarina, the spa manager, was friendly and knowledgeable, and even offered us a small discount. The spa was clean and luxurious. We had an hour of private access to the steam room and sauna before our treatments. Vaso gave me a 40 minute massage that was both strong and gentle, working out all my knots perfectly. It was one of the best massages I’ve had, and Lola gave a great facial too. The adults-only atmosphere was calm and laid-back. October felt just right, though I imagine it gets busier in peak season. The pools had plenty of space: the main one could get busy, but there were always spots at the others. We could sunbathe peacefully, with soft sheets and parasols for shade on each lounger. Each pool had its own bar, and the attentive staff even brought drinks to our sunbeds. Xara deserves a special mention for her warm, genuine service and hard work. The food and desserts kept us more than satisfied, and breakfast, lunch and dinner all offered a wide range of high-quality choices. The restaurant was spotless and organised, with everything clearly labelled. There was an effort to include vegetarian dishes, though the selection was sometimes a little limited. Meat eaters had plenty to choose from. The options changed daily, and staff kept things relaxed by clearing plates and taking drink orders quickly. We stayed at The Syntopia for three nights at the end of October and wished we’d booked longer. The staff were welcoming and explained everything clearly when we arrived. The whole hotel, including the pools, sunbeds and rooms, was spotless. We were celebrating a special occasion and were surprised with an upgrade to a pool-view room, plus a heart-shaped cake in the fridge. We couldn’t finish it all, though, with so much good food and dessert at the restaurant. I’d highly recommend The Syntopia for a stylish, relaxing getaway in Crete.

The pools each had a different feel: one near reception and the restaurant with DJ music, a quiet heated pool tucked away, and a stylish rooftop pool and bar that we spent a lot of time at. The small gym was thoughtfully equipped for a solid workout. You book a slot in advance, with a maximum of four people at a time, so it stays uncrowded and calm. Daily events like outdoor cinema and live music were well put together. The day’s event is posted on Instagram, which is worth checking. Our Superior Sea View with Jacuzzi was spacious and beautifully finished, with local wood adding warmth to its contemporary style. The terrace was expansive, private and so inviting that we kept cancelling plans to stay there. Sea-facing rooms are the key choice for the loveliest views, particularly on higher floors. There is a busy road between the hotel and the water, and another large hotel partly blocks the view, though from the top floor it wasn’t an issue. Back-facing rooms have more countryside views, but didn’t offer the same sense of beauty and exclusivity as the rest of the stay. Service felt personal rather than scripted: attentive and proactive without being intrusive. The team quietly noticed my birthday and sent a complimentary bottle of wine and an incredible cake to our room that evening, without us asking. Everyone, from reception and the kitchen to the pool team and bartenders, seemed engaged and proud of their work. This was our first all-inclusive stay, and it won us over. The food was consistently excellent, with clear labels for gluten-free, lactose-free and other dietary needs. There was one small labelling slip, but it was quickly fixed. The wine and drink choices were generous and well chosen, without the usual all-inclusive compromise. I’m not vegan, but the quality, variety and flavour made it easy to eat plant-based if you wanted to. We came to The Syntopia for an adults-only escape, and the concept really works. The music was carefully selected rather than generic, with a DJ shaping a mellow atmosphere throughout the day and tracks that could fit right in at one of Ibiza’s more refined adults-only hotels. The entrance is discreetly tucked down a side street and easy to miss if you’re not paying attention. We arrived in a rental car, and while there’s no dedicated hotel parking, we always found a spot in the quiet backstreets behind it. Inside, water features, open space and a calm flow lead to a lobby that feels more like a design retreat than a reception. Syntopia isn’t trying to shout for attention, and that’s one of its strengths. It’s a confident, peaceful and carefully curated place for travellers who value design, music, atmosphere and subtle luxury. If you’re after an adults-only stay closer to a design hotel in Ibiza than a traditional Cretan resort, this one delivers.

The staff are what made Syntopia special for us. From reception to the restaurant and bar, they were warm, kind and always smiling. Their care and enthusiasm showed in every interaction. The whole property was spotless and maintained with great attention to detail, and the modern guest rooms were well appointed. For exploring Crete, the hotel provides lunch boxes. If you stay on site, the rooftop terrace is a lovely place to watch the spectacular sunset. We also enjoyed three pools, a fantastic fitness centre, a luxurious spa and nightly live music by the main pool. The all-inclusive food was exceptional, fresh, flavourful and varied, with authentic Greek dishes and plenty of options for guests with dietary needs. We came looking for somewhere memorable for a romantic break, with peace, sophistication and a touch of luxury, and The Syntopia Hotel was a perfect fit. On arrival, it looked just like the photos, or even better. The boho-ethnic atmosphere, signature fragrance and magical feel made it unforgettable. You can buy the fragrance in the on-site boutique. Rooms with a sea view are well worth choosing for the spectacular sunrise from the balcony. We’re sure Syntopia will be our choice again on a future trip, and wholeheartedly recommend it to couples wanting a relaxing, luxurious getaway on Crete.

The hotel’s calm, stylish feel made it easy to switch off. It was spotless, beautifully designed and luxurious without feeling stiff, and clearly well run and maintained, right down to the details that create a peaceful atmosphere. I’ve just returned from a short break at The Syntopia and was completely blown away. The staff were wonderful, friendly, attentive and genuinely caring. Nothing was too much trouble, and they always made time to chat and check I had what I needed. I can’t fault my stay and felt sad to leave. I’m already counting down until I can return. Pure perfection!
