Trefon Hotel Apartments and Suites

The apartment was self-catering and very well equipped, and the whole stay felt relaxing. The rooms were lovely, the staff were kind, and the beach is only a one-minute walk away. Fantastic value for money.

The pool gets a good amount of shade in the afternoon, which was great for the kids and refreshing on a hot summer day. Breakfast was tasty, the rooms clean and well looked after, and the air conditioning was a lifesaver. Staff were kind and helpful. It seems geared mainly toward families, with great restaurants and supermarkets close by. The bus stop isn’t far, and it’s a 20-minute trip to Rethymno. We’ll definitely come back.

The beach is so close we didn’t bother with either of the two pools. The hotel was lovely and clean, and all the staff were friendly and helpful, even sharing tips on places to visit. Free parking was included, too.

Our ground-floor apartment faced the car park, but the balcony was surprisingly peaceful. A privacy screen made it comfortable for sunbathing or sitting at the table for breakfast, and we spent many evenings playing cards there. We could hear live singers and bands from nearby hotels, which made for a nice atmosphere. The one disruption was the cleaning staff shouting to each other very early one morning. They were quiet on the other days. There’s a large car park across the road, and the private road the hotel sits on leads down to the beach. The apartment had air conditioning, which we needed with temperatures around 38° most days. The pool was lovely and staff at the pool bar were friendly. We didn’t order food there, but it looked good. Further down the road is another pool and bar right by the beach, and hotel guests can use that pool for free. The beach was lovely, with chairs and parasols available to rent. We stayed by the pool, but were told the price was €8 for two seats and one parasol for the day. The local supermarket and the main strip, with restaurants, bars, and souvenir shops, are at the other end of the road. No car needed here. Lidl is a 5/10 minute walk depending on your pace. You can book an excursion to Chania or Heraklion at the top of the road for €14, including pickup and return. There’s also a crazy golf place along the main strip in the direction opposite Lidl. We had a really fun night there. First time staying at this hotel, and it didn’t disappoint. We had a lovely holiday and wouldn’t hesitate to come back.
