Hotel Iris

The rooms get very hot, and air conditioning costs an extra €10 per night. WiFi is another €10 per day. There’s also a €1.50 charge for every night that you have to pay before check-in, though this isn’t mentioned anywhere. The elevator has no door, just a car mat that rolls around as it goes up and down.

The hotel itself is lovely, but the all-inclusive deal falls short of what I’ve had elsewhere. Tea and ice cream cost extra, and although the listing says the bed linen is changed three times a week, I was lucky if it happened once. George is really rude. At meals, staff shout and argue with each other, and most guests can’t wait to leave. It’s shocking, what a rip-off.

We were a couple in our late 40s and stayed at the iris for a week from June 9th 2013. The grounds were in great shape, the rooms were basic but well looked after, and the bedding was changed daily. Food was good, with an okay selection, and the staff were friendly and very helpful. We were all inclusive, though that ended at 10-30pm, which we now understand is common for most hotels in rhodes. There was no TV in the room, which didn’t matter to us, but air conditioning cost extra. I also wish coffee had been available all day instead of only at breakfast. Maybe the owner could sort that. We hope to return this year if work allows. It was good value, and we had a good holiday. Thanks, see you again.

We stayed July 18-25. The hotel was clean, in a decent location, and the pool was big enough for the number of guests, but we won’t be back. The manager was unpleasant, sometimes rude, and seemed focused only on money. We came with kids and had all-inclusive, which made us feel like second-class guests. You couldn’t even get a glass for beer or juice, only small plastic cups. Glasses and tankards were for paying customers. The food wasn’t too bad, though the feta and yogurt could have been better, and the meats were okay. Drinks on the package were limited to one kind of draught and cheap local white, red, and rosé wine. The water in the coolers came from big bottles refilled from the tap. The hours weren’t great either. The pool closed at 7pm, even in summer when it still feels like the middle of the day.
