Oasis Hotel Bungalows Rodos - All Inclusive Hotel

The Oasis Hotel Bungalows has a lot of potential and a quaint Greek feel you don't get at a big hotel. We hadn't originally booked it, but were moved there the day before. I wouldn't recommend booking with on the beach. The staff are lovely and the manager was helpful. Nick behind the pool bar was a favorite, a genuinely nice guy who made our stay much better. The pool was nice, and there are friendly cats around. At the back of the pool area there's an enclosure with chickens and deer. I don't think it belongs to the hotel, but the animals were friendly and would eat from your palm. The location is handy, with a big shop five minutes away on foot and a beach about 15 minutes away. There's a great bus service across the road, with rides straight to the old town in about 35 minutes and to Faliraki in 10. When buses had stopped, reception were good about calling us taxis. Drinks weren't watered down, and the cocktails were really nice. The food was our first big problem. All-inclusive can be hit or miss, but this was beyond the pale. The buffet usually had lukewarm pasta with bad sauce, salad, meat that usually wasn't nice, bread, and chips that started out very good and beautifully seasoned, then got worse as the days went on. The fish fingers deserve a mention for being solid and grey. I wasn't expecting five star food, but thought everyone should be able to find something at each meal. My vegetarian friend struggled in particular, and we ended up eating out a lot, which wasn't ideal. The other big issue was bugs. A few days into the stay, I found tons of tiny bugs running over one of the beds. We slept in the other beds and told reception in the morning. They said the cleaners would deal with it, and we didn't see any for a couple of days. Then, the day before we left, we came back and found them all over the bath. It was grim. The manager cleaned our room straight away. We enjoyed the stay overall, but wouldn't return.

The staff didn't speak German, even though that had been advertised, so that's why I'm giving four stars. Other than that, everything around the stay was very good. We felt right at home, and the time just flew by. The pool was good and big enough for several people, with depths ranging from 1.20 to 3 metres. The food was prepared for most of the guests who happened to be there. It's definitely worth exploring, and there's a lovely beach about a 10 minute walk away.

There was always room to stretch out by the pool, with plenty of sun loungers too. It’s a small, down-to-earth hotel tucked among lots of greenery, and we had a lovely stay.

We were happy staying at this little hotel. The people were lovely, and we had a nice time.
