Despina Hotel

The main drawback is the wi-fi. There are five separate networks, but none of them works, so you have to rely on mobile data. It’s a budget, family-run hotel with everything else you’d need, and there’s a store right next door.

We spent six nights at Despina Hotel and would gladly return. The owner greeted us with a smile whenever we crossed paths and always had a kind word. We felt at home thanks to the warm welcome and atmosphere, and the apartments were very clean, with daily cleaning. The location is ideal, just a two-minute walk from the beach and 20 meters from the bus stop for Naxos Town. We were completely won over and highly recommend staying here on Naxos.

Our studio had a double bed, enough room to store our things, and the basic kitchen supplies listed in the description. It was tidy, very clean on arrival, and staff cleaned every second day, often bringing fresh washed sheets and towels. We found it good value. The bed was hard, which may suit people who prefer firmer mattresses and pillows. The short shower curtain meant water easily flooded the bathroom, a problem I’ve experienced at many places in Greece. The location is great for Agia Anna beach and other top beaches. There’s an ATM and supermarket with basic goods and some beach equipment across the road, a nearby bus stop, and car rental places along the street. The garden around the house is beautiful, and the housekeeper offered fresh vegetables every day. Maria was kind and helpful, brought a welcome drink and snack to our room, and was always there when needed. She speaks English fluently, and she and her family made the atmosphere feel familiar. After checkout, they let us leave our suitcases at reception so we could enjoy the beach before our ferry. We had no trouble with the Wi-Fi, which worked well in our room and on the terrace near the street, with a view of illy Coffee bar, despite concerns in earlier comments. There was some street noise from buses, cars, and motorcycles, especially at night, along with mosquitoes. Closing the terrace doors and using the air conditioner made it easier to sleep.

There’s an ATM and mini market across the street, and the bus stop is less than a minute away on foot. Agia Anna beach is just steps from the hotel. We got a very warm welcome, and our room was comfortable, clean, and nicely decorated. The balcony in the family room was very spacious. Highly recommend this place!
