Hotel Francesca

Being so close to the beach was great, but the air conditioning had a very sour, probably moldy smell that we only noticed at night. Reception had already left, so I couldn't sleep that night. It was fixed the next day, which helped, but I think the mold smell lingered, and my allergies and eczema were unbearable for the rest of our stay. As soon as we left and slept somewhere else, the eczema eased. The service was okay and they did help, though they don't really know English.

I felt safe and welcome here as a mature woman travelling alone, and the beach was just a 3 or 4 minute walk away. The bus into Naxos Town stops nearby, and good restaurants are an easy stroll. Hotel Francesca sits on a quiet little road, one block off the main one. It's a small family-run place in Agios Prokopios, Naxos, with about 12 rooms, some with kitchenettes. My ground-floor double had a big covered patio with a table and chairs, plus a small fridge, hair dryer, toiletries, free WIFI, and a large comfortable bed. Breakfast came with the room, and I loved having eggs cooked to order, toast, and coffee on the patio overlooking the pool. The couple running the hotel were kind and hospitable, and the cleaning staff were top notch. Margareta, who looked after guests at breakfast, was especially memorable. I enjoyed our conversations and hearing her insights into life in Greece. The friendly cats who greeted me when I arrived were another lovely touch. I stayed five nights and was very happy with it.

The pool deck was quiet, and the pool was clean and well kept. Even during Greece's record heat wave, the air conditioner kept up. Our room was spacious and clean, with comfortable quality sheets and a good bed. Staff were kind, attentive, and really helpful. The beach was just a quick walk down the road, and the central spot made it easy to get to restaurants and cafes. We had a lovely holiday, definitely a 10/10 experience.

The room was basic but clean, with a lovely little balcony, and the sun loungers by the pool were really comfortable. It's a short walk to the bars and restaurants of Agios Propokios. A good cheap-and-cheerful option if you're staying in Naxos.
