Naxian Utopia Luxury Villas & Suites

Anna and the rest of the front desk team made everything easy, helping us arrange a rental car, dinner ideas and reservations, and anything else we needed. Breakfast was delicious, too. We came as three people with a baby, and the villa worked perfectly for us. The communal pool had fantastic views, and we had a wonderful time in Naxos at Naxian Utopia. Agios Prokopios is a 12-15 minute walk away, with beach chairs for rent and places to eat. I’d recommend getting a car to explore the island, including Chora and the mountain villages.

The private plunge pool was the highlight of our days. Our villa was quiet, private and spacious, and had useful extras like robes, slippers, a hair dryer, dishes, coffee, bottled water and toiletries. Breakfast was lovely, with lots of fresh choices, and the service was wonderful, with someone always available to help. We didn’t rent a car, but getting around was easy. They pick you up from the port or airport for free and can arrange rides whenever needed. We just had them call a taxi. Agios Prokopios beach, with its great restaurants, is about a 10-15 minute walk away, and the bus stop is right beside the hotel. A ticket costs only €2.10. We loved our stay at Utopia Suites and Villas in Naxos. It surpassed what I expected.

The property was clean and looked presentable, but it fell short on privacy, comfort and convenience. Our upgraded room with a private pool didn’t feel private, since the plants were trimmed low enough to see the neighbors. Inside, there were no dresser drawers, closet, or place for toiletries, and the drapes didn’t give much privacy or control the light well. Getting there was underwhelming: the dirt road ends at a paved entrance, but there’s no proper spot to stop and unload bags. The check-in area still had Covid-era plastic barriers. Parking is a dusty dirt lot far from the rooms, and the walk passes barking dogs, roosters and a deserted waterpark. Walking into town didn’t feel safe with narrow roads and fast traffic, so you really need a car.

The staff were warm and attentive, and handled taxis and rental cars well. We got an unexpected upgrade to a larger room with a nice view and good spots for stargazing. Room service was tasty, and they’ll bring drinks during the day if you order. Several major beaches are a quick drive away. I expected a luxury hotel, but it felt more like an Airbnb with some extras. The location isn’t walkable to the beach, and walking feels dangerous, so you must rent a car, though the hotel can arrange one. The parking is a bit far from the rooms, and a big dog barks and growls as you pass. There’s noise from the nearby water park, too. The room was okay, but the outdoor areas need updating. Amenities aren’t open all day, and the tiny, dated gym closes at 10:30. Room service ends fairly early, and you have to pay each time rather than charge it to your room. The breakfast buffet was just okay; by the time we arrived later in the morning, many choices were picked over. The bed was acceptable, set on a slightly raised platform on the floor.
