Galini Mare

There are no shower doors, so be prepared for water around the shower. Otherwise, the place was quiet and romantic, exactly what we wanted for our honeymoon, and we really enjoyed our room. Harris and Elani (?) welcomed us throughout our stay and made us feel right at home. I'd recommend staying here.

The host was so nice and gave us suggestions for places to visit and good restaurants. Breakfast was a great buffet too!

My partner booked 16 nights at Galini Mare through booking.com. The booking was cancelled there without her permission, and he asked her to pay him directly, preferably in cash. She left after two nights. The room had a good sea view, but was dingy and badly in need of redecorating. As a goodwill gesture, I offered to pay for three nights. He got angry straight away and threatened to call the police unless I paid for all 16 nights. When I refused, he called them. I tried to explain that my partner was ill and didn't need the added stress, but I ended up paying a €630 cancellation fee because I didn't want to be taken to a police station in a foreign country. There are lots of lovely hotels in Galini. I've stayed across the road at Astoria and loved it, but I would never stay at Galini Mare again.

Make sure to book a room with a sea view and balcony, the view is amazing. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the beach and the town centre restaurants, though it helps to be a good walker because the route has lots of steps and steep streets. Parking spaces are plentiful nearby. Our room was a good size and very clean, with daily room service, but there wasn't much storage in the room or bathroom. The furnishings were very simple. Breakfast had plenty to choose from, including eggs, fruit, and yoghurt. The hosts were friendly and shared lots of useful information when we arrived. We also had a nice little chat with the hotel owners. We can definitely recommend the hotel.
