Villa Maxine

It really felt like a home away from home, and we're already dreaming of another visit. The staff were wonderful, genuinely kind, always smiling, and ready to help. The hotel was spotless and beautifully designed, in a quiet, scenic spot surrounded by nature, with the beach just a short walk away. We loved relaxing by the stunning pool on lazy afternoons, and the food was delicious, fresh, and varied every day. A car would be useful for exploring more of the area, but the setting and views are lovely if you just want to unwind. We had the most wonderful stay at Paralos The Maxine in Agia Galini, a hidden gem on Crete's southern coast.

The food was good, the hotel was clean, and the waitresses were very sweet. But it was a noisy place, and I wasn't sure how sincere the boss was. Sometimes she was friendly, other times she made me feel like a nuisance. I heard mice running in the ceiling, but when I mentioned it, she just said that wasn't possible. After my first night, I asked for a lower pillow. I had to ask several times and didn't get one until the fifth night.

The pool and pool bar are clean and well looked after, and there's plenty of parking around the hotel. Rooms are spacious and clean. The hotel sits on a hill, with lovely views from the main building, where breakfast is served and you can order lunch, dinner, or drinks. Breakfast is the one area that could use improvement: one coffee machine isn't enough, and there's always a long queue. The beach is only a few minutes' walk away, with lots of restaurants there. The dog mentioned in earlier reviews wasn't a problem and was usually kept on a leash. A very good place to stay in Agia Galini, definitely worth recommending for a trip to Crete.

A cozy, peaceful atmosphere, easygoing and friendly staff, and very clean, renovated rooms. The pool, garden, and workout area made for a great vacation setting. We can fully recommend this hotel!
