I had a wonderful view from my room, and the location is hard to beat. The hosts are so kind and welcoming, and the apartment is great, with everything you need.

There was no air conditioning or shampoo, the Wi-Fi wasn’t good, and the windows had no protection against mosquitoes.

We arrived on Saturday night to find everything closed and nobody at the hotel. After I called, a very kind woman came right away. She told us, I can only assume as a joke, that they had closed our suite. To get inside, we used a side iron and glass door which she assured us wouldn’t lock, then hauled our suitcases up three floors on foot. At the top there was another iron door with a mosque, which led to the “suite.” The photos can speak for the room. It had two fridges, one broken with a door that wouldn’t even shut. I suppose they’d left it there rather than carry it back down three flights. One of the two bathrooms had no light, there were discarded boards and wood by the entrance, and cables ran along one wall. The dust and dirt between the kitchen “cabinets” and wall were awful. The windows had no screens. We were told the water was drinkable, but there wasn’t even a glass to try it in, let alone any cooking utensils. We’d paid a deposit for one night after calling ahead. Thankfully, we hadn’t agreed to pay the second night on arrival, as they asked us to. While we were still trying to take in the room and why they were charging €95 for it, cockroaches came out of the bathroom. That was the last straw. After a big fuss, they did find us a room at another accommodation right away and used our deposit to pay for one night, though they didn’t do it willingly or even bother to apologize. I have to give them credit for that. All I can say is SHAME! They don’t respect people or the money we work so hard to earn, especially these days. I wouldn’t stay there for free, let alone pay €100 a day. What’s happening across much of the island is insulting.

Nikos at the bar-cafe gave us a unique welcome. He’s an amazing man, always available and generous with everyone, and he knows how to offer help in a thoughtful way. It’s easy to see an employee like him as a friend.

There wasn’t a parking space, even though we’d asked through the platform. Both air conditioners in the rooms were faulty, so we couldn’t stand being in the room or sleep. There were cockroaches, the toilet kept running and wouldn’t close, and the balconies were dusty and dirty. There was no real reception. We found an abandoned, warehouse-like space with no air conditioning, where we were left waiting. Apparently that was the hotel bar and games room, hahaha. There was even a motorbike inside. We called the hotelier, who sent the maid to take us to the rooms. To pay, we had to go to his shop to find him, and he didn’t even ask whether we were happy with our stay. This hotel is run-down, abandoned, and dirty, and it’s absolutely not worth what we paid.
