Myrmidon

We booked 14 nights at Myrmidon Hotel and had a great stay. It's close to everything and the beach is about a five-minute walk away, with the farther beach around 15 minutes on foot. A/C worked the whole time, so we didn't feel the summer heat in the room. It's a family-friendly place with kind people and a nice style. It feels like one big family even when you don't know the other guests. When we left, the owner Vangliou gave us a goodbye gift. Next time, I'll definitely book there again. Five stars for everything.

The courtyard is really impressive and has a lot of potential, though it isn't very well maintained. Our room was okay, and we didn't run into the problems mentioned in other reviews. The owners don't do a lot, it's true, but we liked them. They're nice, laid-back people. We were glad to find somewhere still reasonably priced where you can relax without crowds. For what we paid in high season on Aegina, it was really okay. It's a beautiful, very quiet spot in a calm part of Agia Marina. A good choice for a few days away from Aegina's port, as long as you're not expecting luxury like in Mykonos or Santorini.

We booked for the swimming pool because the place said it was child-friendly. It really wasn't. After 5 pm, we went down with our child to play, but within minutes an employee told us to leave because it was quiet hour. He said our child's laughter was bothering everyone. We tried to explain then that our son is autistic, but there was no discussion, just a demand to go. My son started crying, and the man said some nasty things to us. He didn't seem keen on showers, either. During the night we had severe allergy problems. When we checked the mattresses, they were covered in black mold. The fire hazard was the cherry on top, as you can see from the sockets. This place is a health and safety hazard and discriminatory. Run away from it.

The pool wasn't even filled with water, despite us paying for it. Our room, 205, hadn't been cleaned. There was leftover pasta, rubbish and chips on the balcony, a used mask on the desk, a very loose tap, and lots of spider webs and bugs. I wouldn't stay at this hotel or even pass by it. The owners were so filthy, and several locals asked where we were staying and told us it was the worst hotel on the island.
