Sea Side

Robert and Konstantina made our stay feel personal from the start. They were kind, welcoming, and took time to help with every question, whether we needed transport, ideas for hotels on other islands, or excursions. For my birthday, they surprised me with flowers, wine, and a delicious cake. Leaving felt like saying goodbye to friends or family, and I can't recommend this hotel enough. The rooms were clean and spacious, with balconies and sea views. We also loved the beautiful seaside views and how the beachfront felt like our own private beach. Several restaurants are nearby, and the Old Harbour is about 15 minutes away by public transit. Thanks, Robert and Konstantina, for such a lovely stay.

The hotel is well placed for visiting Samaria, Balos and other attractions, and you can rent a car from the owner. There's also a small parking area in the yard for guests. Our hosts were friendly and did everything they could to make the stay pleasant. The rooms were clean, spacious and modern, more than I'd expected. The food was great, and they even accommodated my special diet.

I wouldn't recommend this hotel. The beach umbrellas and sunbeds were old and broken, and the beach shower was rusty. The site listed facilities like a hairdryer, electric kettle, toaster and coffee machine, but they weren't all available. Even with three stars, there was no soap provided, just a dispenser, which they said was left over from the pandemic period. The room was filthy, with dust on the floor and furniture and rubbish left by previous guests. During the week nobody cleaned it or changed the towels or bedding. Worst of all, the sheets and pillows smelled awful. The food was exactly the same every day, with no variation.

The hotel's location is excellent, and the pool and beach could be lovely if they were looked after. The bar, which isn't run by the hotel, served excellent food and drinks. But the rest of our week there in early August on half board was a real disappointment, despite the great reviews that led me to choose it. There were dirty pillows from the previous guests in our room, and no cleaning or fresh towels. After I called the local guide on day four, someone sort of cleaned, but all we found was a mark from a floor cloth. The outdoor areas, including the sand and sunbeds, weren't swept or cleaned. I've stayed in Greece seven times, including Crete three times, and never had an experience like this. Other guests there at the same time felt the same way. If I'd known, I'd have booked a much cheaper apartment without meals. The food never changed and there wasn't much choice, sometimes no side dish at dinner. The female staff wore dirty, smelly uniforms. One meal was so bad that some guests chose to eat out on the second evening.
