Lygaria Beach Hotel

If you're considering the all inclusive option, take the bad reviews seriously. For me this felt like a 2 star hotel at best, nowhere near the 4 star, or even 3 star, experience advertised. The amenities weren't as described, and the food was very limited. It was mostly the same each day, and by day 3 I was bored with it. Drinks were restricted to certain times and places. Bottled water in the room cost extra even though the tap water wasn't drinkable, and nobody mentioned that at check in. We ended up paying for food and drinks outside the hotel. I regret spending extra on all inclusive: we spent 300 euros more than expected. Restaurant choice nearby is limited, and even the cheapest meals for two were around 20euros to 40 euros with a drink. I could manage one hotel meal a day, and my friend mostly eats one meal and snacks. Accessibility was a major problem, and the hotel had told me it would arrange an accessible room after I asked almost a month before our trip. The room we got was still not accessible. My friend isn't wheelchair bound, but needs one for long distances. We left it at home because we thought we'd only face a few steps, especially as we planned to mostly stay near the beach. Instead, the room was halfway up a very steep hill, with steps inside and up to the beds. Getting to reception, the pool or restaurant meant tackling steep hills or stairs, and the restaurant had many steps. The hill was too steep for a wheelchair, whether self propelled or pushed. My friend was in excruciating pain every day. Even the most accessible room wasn't manageable. If I'd taken the accessibility complaints seriously and been told the truth, I would have paid to change our booking. This isn't an accessible hotel. The hotel's location by the beach is its best point if you want a secluded holiday. For town, you'd need a taxi or a 30 minute walk uphill to the bus stop. There are no pavements and the hill is very steep. A taxi to the city costs 40 euros each way, though sometimes they charge 50 euros; a ride to the closest town is around 15 euros. There was no entertainment either. The pool looked dirty, with bugs and a yellow stain, so we went to the beach instead. Getting to the pool was difficult because of the hill anyway. There were ants everywhere, and centipedes kept getting into our room. I'm terrified of them, so my friend had to remove them. I understand it was technically off season, but we were still charged the in season tourist tax and the amenities weren't as described. The room was cleaned only once in 6 nights. When I asked for towels, I had to ask for them, and the duvets had no covers. I have no idea if they get washed between guests.
