Villa Misemeli

Villa Misemeli felt like a real family home, and it comfortably fit our family of five. As a family constantly traveling around the world, we really value finding somewhere that feels like home. The place is bright, clean, and welcoming, with a well-equipped kitchen for cooking, plus books and games for everyone. The kitchen and open living area are spacious and full of light. There are two nice bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, and a lovely terrace with a large shaded table and open mountain views, perfect for breakfast or lunch outside. There’s another table on the first-floor balcony, but without shade we didn’t enjoy it as much. The small garden is a nice place for the kids to play, though it could use some care. The green carpet feels a bit cheap for such a pretty house and is hard to clean after the strong winds that can happen there. Antonis, who looks after the house for the owner, gave us a warm welcome. When a small issue came up, he responded quickly and sorted it within 24 hours. He also put us in touch with Gabriel, which helped us find a car rental during the low season, when many places are closed. We could still walk to a small supermarket, two butchers, a pharmacy, and two delicious tavernas. The beach is walkable too, and we enjoyed the sunny weather in March and April. Some things were old or worn, though they may have been fixed after we left since we left a note. The ping-pong table was great for the kids but quite old and weathered. Both outdoor loungers were broken, and the living room sofas were saggy, faded, and uncomfortable to sleep on. We had to spend one night on one of them. The downstairs bedroom mattress could use replacing, and the upstairs spare bed gets uncomfortable for a longer stay. These were small issues that didn’t take away from how much we enjoyed our stay. Villa Misemeli is in an ideal spot, feels comfortable and homely, and works well off-season. It’s also only a short ride from Heraklion. We’d recommend it to families looking for a welcoming, well-located holiday home.
