Aksos Suites

We’ve only just left Crete, and already miss this place. Maria and Giannis are so kind and always looking for ways to help and spoil their guests. The apartment worked perfectly for my mobility needs, with a wheelchair-usable kitchen and an automatic pool lifter that let me get into the pool from my chair. It’s also a relaxing spot for an evening swim, with an oven, microwave and dishwasher included. There’s a washing machine shared with the other apartments. One small drawback for me, since I love a cool room, was the bedroom’s little window and limited airflow. Still, I hope we can come back as soon as possible. And Giannis, I’m only teasing, I like you a lot!

John and Maria, thank you for everything! Your apartments had everything we needed, and they’re spacious, comfortable, modern and luxurious. The location is lovely, surrounded by acres of greenery, with a stunning view of Agia's lake and only 20 minutes from Chania center. They’re suitable for couples and families, and especially good for disabled guests. These were the nicest vacations we’ve ever had. The beauty of the place is hard to put into words.

The little pool is a nice place to unwind, and they leave raki, wine, fruit and vegetables for guests. It’s a very good place to stay, though a bit expensive. If you can afford it and want to avoid mass tourism while staying near Chania, it’s a good choice. One small annoyance: the owner, who was very nice and even gave me free Greek lessons, suggested Lake Cafe and said Aksos guests could get 10% off. Lake Cafe refused the discount. I found it terrible, with too few staff to provide service. Enasma Cafe, on the other hand, was gorgeous and one of my best restaurant experiences in Crete. The menu isn’t large, but the place, service, owners and food were all perfect. I do wonder why Akso's owner recommends Lake Cafe. It’s a small detail, but when things are so close to perfect, recommending a bad restaurant can tarnish the reputation.

You’ll need a car for day trips, the beach or going out to eat, but we had one and had our best holiday in years. Aksos suites is a 15/20 minute drive from several beaches with “sea tracs”, so I could get into the sea easily too. The disabled access was fantastic for me, and the pool hoist meant I could get in and out whenever I wanted. Giannis and Maria are brilliant hosts, caring and helpful whenever you need them. The apartments were very clean and well equipped, and the setting is stunning, with views across the hills and orange, lemon, avocado and olive trees. The pool shares those views. We’ve just got home to the UK after two wonderful weeks. Thank you so much, highly recommended!
