Argo Summer House

We had a fantastic stay, and the owner was especially helpful. The house is in a very quiet, almost isolated spot on the road down to the village, about 1 km from the sea. It has three spacious floors: downstairs there’s a double bedroom with an extra bed/sofa and a shower bathroom; the first floor has the kitchen, living room, bathroom and a fabulous terrace; upstairs are another bedroom, a living room, a third bathroom with a tub, and a terrace with a view. It’s a rather unique place, though some minor maintenance and renovations would bring it up to top condition, and the kitchen was quite basic. The house price included private parking, the pool and the beach in front, with lounge chairs and umbrellas. We went down to breakfast at the Argo Hotel on the beach and could use all its amenities for free. The buffet wasn’t very varied, but everything was delicious, with genuine homemade products, excellent jams, fruit, and both sweet and savory options. I especially liked the freshly squeezed juice brought to our table. We Italians did miss espresso, though. The location was perfect and better than we’d expected.

The terraces on the first and second floors have superb views over the bay. The villa sits on a hill in a quiet area, around 1.1 km from the beach, restaurants and shops. It has a ground floor and two upper levels, with one bedroom downstairs, an open-plan kitchen and living room on the first floor, and the other bedroom on the second. Each floor has a bathroom, so there are three in all. The kitchen has crockery, a stove, refrigerator and the utilities needed if you want to cook. There’s a garden with parking for 2-3 cars, but you need a car with high ground clearance to get into the yard. One detail to know is that breakfast isn’t served at the villa, despite what Booking.com says. It’s at the Argo hotel on the beach, 1.1 km away, so you need to drive there each day. The hotel parking lot has remote-control access. Breakfast includes eggs, tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, lemonade or orange juice, and very good pies and cakes made by the owner’s mother in the hotel restaurant. The homemade jams and honey are very good, and coffee or tea is available. There are also motorboat rides, costing 25 EUR per person for about an hour or 35 EUR per person with a visit to an aquatic cave, as well as diving and hydrobike rides. The service was good, the surroundings were lovely, and the wonderful beach is just steps away.
