Akasti Hotel

We knew the price didn't promise luxury and were fine with a plain apartment, but the noise was horrible. Restaurant staff were loud late into the night, a huge extractor fan rumbled, and the washing machines ran all night, shaking our room during the spin cycle. Staff shouting to each other at 5.30am woke us up. With no door nets, we got bitten by mosquitoes in the room, even though we tried to shut the doors as fast as possible. We complained and were told room 133 was the best one. I'd hate to see the others. The step at the back from the so-called 'patio' was so high you'd need stilts, and we could hear the laundry staff next door and restaurant staff shouting above us. We'd spent 8 weeks in crete, and this was by far the biggest fail. It was nothing like the adverts suggested.

The dinners included with half-board were delicious, and watching the sea sunsets from the restaurant terrace was a highlight. Staff were welcoming, helpful, and always smiling from the moment we arrived. Their hospitality made Akasti feel comparable to some 3- and 4-star hotels I've stayed in. Breakfast could be better, but the hotel's cozy, intimate atmosphere made that easier to overlook. It's a quiet place with character, not too big or busy. We found it a great base for exploring the area. Everyone wants different things from a hotel, but if you care about warm hospitality, peaceful surroundings, and good dinner, Akasti Hotel is a good choice. I didn't expect much when I booked, so I came away genuinely and pleasantly surprised.

There wasn't anything special about the stay; it felt like an average hotel. The bathroom was really terrible and urgently needs improvement. For the price, it could definitely be much better.

This cozy place has several buildings around a pool that's kept very clean. The staff are friendly and accommodating, we got fresh towels and bedding every day, and the AC worked perfectly. Several beaches and restaurants are nearby, and the area is nice for an evening walk.
