Mania and Iiias were wonderful local hosts, warm and attentive. They even taught us a lot about Greece, including how to cook local gourmet dishes! The apartment itself was huge, quiet, clean, beautiful, and had everything we needed. It took up the entire second floor of a two-storey house, surrounded by a magnificent garden full of fruit trees and flowers. There were several balconies all around, with breathtaking views. The place is in a great neighbourhood, close to the beach, restaurants, public transport, and just about everything. A fantastic experience!

The owners live upstairs. They’re very friendly and helpful, although they don’t speak English. The basement apartment has plenty of space for a family of four and a small yard with outdoor seating. Nights can sometimes be noisy, and there are no foreign TV channels. There were no welcome supplies like milk, bread, fruit, or toilet paper. The beach is about a seven-minute walk away, though the water there can get choppy. The two beaches further east are calmer, and the furthest east one is the cleanest and most beautiful. You can reach all of them with an easy walk or by bus. Chania is a short bus ride from the stop at the end of the road.

The owners offered us figs from the impressive garden, which had local trees, and I could have eaten more and more! It’s a very friendly, clean, pleasant place to stay, and the nearby beach is magnificent and spacious enough. A lovely spot to stay and relax.

The apartment has everything you need for cooking, and the air conditioning works very well, which really matters for a good night’s sleep when it’s 38-degree weather. The maisonette suits a family with two children perfectly, with each child sleeping in their own bed in the loft. Mania and Ilias are excellent hosts. Two supermarkets are a 20-minute walk away, or less than two minutes by rental car. I’d come back in a heartbeat. Never say never!
