Great value for the money, and I appreciated the patio drying rack at this beach hotel. The owner couple have a quirky, funny sense of humor. There are a few dozen rooms and an onsite restaurant, like many hotels nearby. I visited in shoulder season, when the included breakfast worked by ordering from a menu, dim sum style, writing down the number of each item. The hotel is close to the beaches, with a running park right across from it. Sound insulation was okay, though depending on your room you might hear restaurant diners. It was mostly clean, but could have been a little cleaner, about 8/10 for cleanliness.

The beach is only a few minutes away, and there's easy access by car. There are plenty of supermarkets around, and they helped us book tours. The people running this small hotel were gentle, kind, and generous. They made sure we had a terrific stay and even invited us to join them for a homemade lunch. Lovely people and a splendid stay.

The pool is tiny, and the “balconys” are darker than a local alley at night. The reception service was extremely rude. I've been to Greece more than ten times and never had an experience like this. On arrival, the man couldn't find our reservation and seemed far more interested in collecting money from restaurant guests and managing the waiters than checking us in. I helped him locate it, but then he said we'd have to change rooms every second day and dropped F-bombs. He got distracted and ignored us for a while, so we left. Luckily, I had booked through a place that gave me a full refund.

We ate at the restaurant almost every night because, in our view, it was the best on the island. The breakfast was varied and very good, and the hotel itself was quiet. We were in room 25, with a balcony facing the hotel entrance and road, but we didn't hear any cars. The rooms matched the listing. It's a renovated hotel, so expect massive wood furniture. Housekeeping and towel changes happened every 2-3 days, if I remember right. One note: opening the balcony door switches off the AC. Our baby cot was almost new, the room was spacious, the hosts were excellent, and the beaches were a seven-minute walk away. We thought it was well worth the money.

Before the frightening incident, I'd already spent a night here and had dinner at the restaurant. The room and the food were amazing, and I still dream about that delicious meal. I wish I'd booked with them from the start. About 7-8 months ago, I was staying at a different hotel in shared, hostel-style bunk accommodation down the street. In the middle of the night, I had a safety issue with one of my bunkmates and had to leave quickly. I ran to Talos and asked the evening staff if I could sit with them for a moment after their long dinner shift. They kindly took me in for the night at no cost. It was a rare and unusual situation, but I was scared and vulnerable while traveling alone, and I still remember their kindness with so much gratitude. Next time I'm on crete, I'd love to stay here longer. Thank you for the hospitality, the lovely accommodation, and the food. Take care, and see you again if luck brings me back to the beautiful island of crete. 😊
